All participants will be scheduled into classes that focus on the Classical work of the Reformer, the Cadillac, Mat, and Chairs. These classes will be instructed by Jay Grimes, Peter Fiasca, Kathryn Ross-Nash, Brooke Siler and Dorothee VandeWalle.

Strengthen your knowledge and create the flow of the workout. Solidify the order of the work, improve concentration and allow the transitions to become a part of the workout. Be prepared to sweat!!!

All Hands on Deck - Brooke Siler

This workshop offers a unique approach to teaching, that shows how to deepen Pilates work through specific hand positioning. Participants will be able to experience the system from the perspective of both teacher and student by partnering to experience the tactile cueing.

Learn the differnece between breaking down an exercise and modifying an exercise. There will be little reason to modify once you learn how to break the exercises down.

Explore the pedi pole, small arm chair and all of the extra pieces such as the neck stretcher, breath a cizer, sand bag, foot corrector, toe exercisers, airplane boards and more.

Connection to the Jumptm - Kathryn Ross-Nash ($30)
The power of the jump comes from your center and buttocks. Learn how to combine and connect strength and alignment while using the jumboard, pedi pole, electric chair and foot corrector.

The work on the electric chair improves the connection to your powerhouse. Learn to refine the articulation from the toes to your buttocks, which will then increase speed and transition of power.

Jay GrimesJay Grimes
Master Pilates teacher Jay Grimes is the director of Vintage Pilates in Los Angeles.

Jay studied with founder Joesph Pilates in the mid-1960's and later with Joe's wife, Clara. He taught in the original New York studio and also studied with Joe's proteges, Romana Kryzanowska and John Winters. In his 18 years as a professional dancer - ballet and Broadway - Jay never had an injury. He attributes this entirely to Pilates.

From his new studio on Los Angeles' west side, Jay continues the work of Joseph Pilates, providing ongoing training to instructors and conducting workshops, master classes and post-graduate programs for students around the world. If students can't come to Los Angeles, he brings the work to them. He has offered workshops in England, Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Russia and Australia.

 

Kathryn Ross-NashKathryn Ross- Nash began her Pilates training in 1982. She has had the privilege to be trained by Romana Kryzanowska, Kathy Grant, Sari Mejo Santos, Jay Grime & Edwina Fontaine, and all first generation teachers.
Kathryn Ross-Nash is certified through the Pilates Studio, the Authentic Pilates Guild, AFTA, IFFA and is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner. Kathryn was principle dancer for ten years with Ballet Hispanico of NY, and often returns to restage ballets. She also holds a second-degree black belt in Te Kwon Do and an undefeated AUU sparring record.
Kathryn Ross-Nash has worked side by side with Romana for many years. She has demonstrated the Advanced work for her at workshops and seminars through out the US and also is the only woman to demonstrate on both the Romana's Pilates DVD 's and the Legacy Series. Romana is quoted about Ms. Ross-Nash" that her work is like ice cream" and that she is one of her best, her "star of stars". Kathryn was also hand picked by Romana to sit at her right hand as Vice-president of the Authentic Pilates Guild.
Kathryn was also a feature instructor in the premiere issue of Pilates Style Magazine, Infomercials and many other Pilates Style issues. Kathryn was invited to be one of the three premiere writers for Pilates Style international blog. She is often a quoted expert and her advice on the method is sought after worldwide. Recently she was asked by Gratz industries to help promote the equipment she strongly believes in as the best.
Know through out the industry for her purity and devotion to the work, her list of students include many in the TV, Movie, Broadway, professional athletes and dancers and Music industry. Lad year she was invited as the first instructor to and trained the dancers of the Vaganova School in St. Petersburg Russia.

Brooke SilerBrooke Siler spent a decade training under Joseph Pilates' protégée and chosen successor Romana Kryzanowska from 1994 - 2004. She opened her award-winning studio, re:AB Pilates, in 1997 and was
quickly embraced by Hollywood's A-list.

Brooke is author of the New York Times' best-seller The Pilates Body, The Pilates Body Kit, Your Ultimate Pilates Body Challenge and created the Element Pilates for Weight Loss DVD. Her re:AB Pilates Teacher Training Program was voted the "Gold Standard" by Time Out Magazine.

Peter FiascaPeter Fiasca
Peter's unique teaching perspective comes from 22 years of studying the traditional Pilates method and over 25 years of working in the field of psychology as a clinician, supervisor, manager and administrator. He has spent nearly a lifetime exploring the inextricable relationship between our mental and physical realms. Peter began studying traditional Pilates in 1988 with Phoebe Higgins and later pursued teacher training at Drago's Gym, receiving his certification in 1998 from master teacher Romana Kryzanowska. He previously studied with master teacher Kathy Grant and continues to train with master teacher Jay Grimes, as well as other distinguished traditional instructors. Peter has dedicated himself to the preservation of traditional Pilates by creating the Worldwide Academy of Traditional Instructors on www.classicalpilates.net, by producing and directing the award winning Classical Pilates Technique series of DVD's and by writing the critically reviewed companion book, Discovering Pure Classical Pilates, which has now been translated into Spanish. Peter has been a frequent guest instructor at training centers throughout the U.S., Europe and South America. He appeared in Romana Kryzanowska's first commercial DVD project, demonstrating Pilates Mat workouts and more recently, Peter was invited to participate in the DVD "Jay Grimes: Pilates Revealed."

Dorothee VanderWalleDorothee VandeWalle
Dorothee VandeWalle is a master Pilates instructor and is recognized as one of the leading teacher trainers in the Pilates world. Originally trained as a dancer in her native Belgium, Dorothee studied for many years with Romana Kryzanowska in New York City and has lived in Seattle since 1993.

Dorothee teaches in the tradition of the original, authentic Pilates method and enjoys teaching instructors and practitioners from all different backgrounds and levels of fitness and has a unique ability to help all of her clients benefit from the work.

Dorothee and her partner Sylvia Furia opened Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle in 1999 and in have a state of the art studio equipped with Gratz Pilates equipment and feature their M.A.T. Pilates teacher training and certification program.

Dana SantiDana Santi began studying the Pilates method in 1996 in Evanston, IL. She studied under the direction of Juanita Lopez and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska in 1998. After completing her certification, Dana instructed at and managed The Pilates Studio of The Midwest at Hubbard Street in Chicago, IL. In 2002, Dana opened The Pilates Core, Inc. in LaGrange, IL. Presently, Dana and her 12 instructors keep Pilates pure and true to its original form. She believes that keeping Pilates authentic is what makes The Pilates Core such a successful studio. Dana devotes much of her non-teaching time to studying and networking with other classically trained Pilates instructors.
